Our history-rich area has a great deal to offer, all within minutes of Liberty, including:

• Walnut Mountain Park & Trails, Liberty – There are approximately 13 miles of Hiking and Mountain Biking Trails winding throughout the park which are considered some of the best in the area. Much of the terrain is steep which allows for a wonderful experience for the advanced mountain bikers and hikers, but yet, gradual enough grades for the less experienced bikers and hikers. The views throughout the park are breathtaking.
• Liberty is also home to several Rail Trails including the Liberty Section from Liberty to Ferndale (2.7 miles) and the Parksville Section along the Little Beaver Kill (1.3 miles)
• Holiday Mountain offering great skiing and snow tubing just 85 mi north of NYC in the Southern Catskill Mtns.; Rock Hill
• Francis A. Hanover Park, Liberty – The park consists of a beautiful Olympic size swimming pool, 24 acre Dixie Lake which is used for fishing, covered pavilions which are rented out for parties, a state of the art playground, picnic areas, hiking trails around the lake, basketball court, baseball field, tennis courts, and a sand volleyball court. There are also open areas to fly a kite or enjoy your own recreation activities. Hanofee Park is best known for being a great place to take your family for a fun filled day with a variety of recreation activities for all. During the summer the Town runs a summer day camp with approximately 170 children Monday through Friday at the park.
